Keyhole lips: three questions to ask before you book

Keyhole lips gets asked for by name a lot, and the name only really pins down one thing. When your mouth is relaxed there's a small opening at the centre, framed by fullness on each side. That part everyone agrees on.

Where it gets fuzzy is how that opening is made. One clinic guide puts the filler in the centre. Another describes central and outer-lip placement in the same article. So two injectors can hear "keyhole" and picture different plans.

Three things worth asking at the consult

  1. Where would you place it? Ask them to point to the spots on your own lips. If the answer is the centre, the outer lip, or both, you'll know which version of keyhole you're talking about.
  2. What happens from the side? The guides describe the front view far more clearly than the profile. A relatively unprojected centre is one reading, but the name itself doesn't say how far your lips come forward. Ask to see side-view photos of results they'd call keyhole.
  3. Is it realistic for my lips? The parting depends on the lips you start with. Let them tell you if it's feasible before you get attached to it.

If you want to see the shape before you go, this keyhole lip shape guide lays out where the sources agree and disagree, with an illustration on 8 demo faces. Bring it as a talking point. The plan itself is something you and your injector work out together.
